Define the Relationship
Section 5
In the previous sections, Tim helped us understand God as a loving Father who desperately longs for his lost sons and daughters to come home. This picture of God helps us to define our relationship with God in a healthy way. Tim has also helped us understand that both the younger brother and the older brother were in trouble and had their own shortcomings. In this final teaching, he will help us understand how this story relates to us and our need for a Savior.
Reflection Questions
Have you lived more like the younger brother or the older brother?
Based on your answer to the last question, what does it look like for you to repent for how you have mistreated God, the Father?
Tim talked about how Jesus, the Son of God, was the true elder brother. What price did he pay to bring us back home to our Father God?
Tim talked about how we need to be moved and melted by what it cost Jesus. Take a minute to pray, and tell Jesus how much you appreciate him giving his life to bring you back home to God. You can pray silently, out loud, or type your prayer here.
If you were to see yourself as a son or daughter of God who has returned home and is enjoying a close relationship with God, how would you live your daily life different than you do now?
